Melissa Jillian Corona,
Artistic Director


Melissa Jillian Corona holds a B.F.A. in Theater from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, specializing in musical theater at CAP 21 studios. She is very excited to be a part of Teen Angel Project's mission of bringing joy to communities in need through song and dance. Melissa has been performing and teaching in MD and NY communities for over 30 years, wearing many different hats. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Dancing Classrooms DC- an arts-in-residency Social Emotional Learning program that teaches ballroom dance to 5th graders throughout DC (as seen in the movie Mad Hot Ballroom.) She served as an Educational Liaison and Teaching Artist for this program in NY for ten years. As a music teacher and musical theater instructor, she has taught at Seven Star School of Performing Arts in Brewster, NY, Studio E school of Dance in Queens, as well as PS 196 in Queens. She also founded and directed the Kew Gardens Cuties, a community-performing group in Kew Gardens, NY, as well as directed and choreographed numerous community productions in NY, including Fame and JC Superstar, as well as many more. As a performer, favorite roles include Mary Poppins (Winifred Banks), Godspell (Ana Maria), You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown (Sally), 42nd Street (Peggy Sawyer), and Cap 21’s production of Hair. Here in MD, she teaches group keyboard and Music Together classes at the Olenka School of Music. Melissa also teaches private voice and piano lessons in her home studio in the Columbia/ Ellicott City area. She is also a long-standing member of the New York Singing Teachers Association. Melissa lives in Elkridge, MD with her husband and her two children.
